Harris has built his technical reputation specifically around the commercial management of mega-tall structures and complex master-planned developments, a narrower specialism than general quantity surveying or cost consultancy. He has served in a Project Director capacity on a number of the region's landmark developments, including Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Hills Estate, Uptown Tower in Dubai, and several of the pavilion projects built for Expo 2020.
Under his tenure as Managing Director, Omnium has expanded its footprint beyond its original Gulf base into the UK and Europe, alongside continuing to win major project appointments in Saudi Arabia's giga-project pipeline and, more recently, on large-scale developments in Abu Dhabi. That expansion has run alongside a push to invest more formally in staff development, including a programme Harris backed called FUTURE, launched in 2019 to sponsor employees through university-accredited quantity surveying qualifications in partnership with a UK university.
Harris has described that investment in people as central to how Omnium competes with larger, better-resourced consultancies, arguing that continuity of staff and long-standing client relationships matter as much as scale. "We won't short cut our clients on the services we provide," he has said, describing the firm's reputation as something built up over decades rather than something that can be recovered quickly if service quality slips.
Omnium itself was founded in 1962, giving Harris's more than two decades there a direct connection to a firm with a much longer institutional history in cost and contract consultancy across the Middle East and beyond.
