David Hutton has spent close to three decades working in engineering and design across the Middle East, moving through roles at SSH Design and AECOM Middle East before joining Ramboll. That mix of employers, spanning a regional design practice and a large multinational consultancy, gave him experience on both the architectural design and multidisciplinary engineering sides of project delivery before he took on his current regional role. He has also completed general management training through Cranfield's business school, adding a formal management qualification to his technical background.

As Regional Director, Hutton is responsible for Ramboll's business across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, covering both the UAE and Saudi Arabia rather than a single market. His current project work includes the MEP and smart technology systems for Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, a large hospitality development in Dubai, and involvement in The Avenues in Riyadh, a mixed-use development built around five high-rise towers.

Hutton's focus areas include decarbonisation and resilient infrastructure, applied across the hospitality and mixed-use developments that make up a large share of his current project list. His work draws on Ramboll's multidisciplinary structure, bringing together architecture, planning, and digital design tools within the same practice.

Ramboll itself was founded in Copenhagen in 1945 and has grown from a small Danish engineering practice into a firm with offices across dozens of countries. Hutton's role puts him in charge of how that global structure operates across two of the region's largest construction markets, managing project delivery, client relationships, and technical standards across both.
