Top 5 Mega-Futuristic Projects Shaping the Cities of Tomorrow

These five mind-blowing construction projects aren’t just imagining the future they’re building it. From a vertical city to cube-shaped skyscrapers, these innovations are redefining urban living.

1- Jeddah Tower (Saudi Arabia) — Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, engineered by Thornton Tomasetti; developed by Jeddah Economic Company (KHC & Binladin Group).

2- The Line (NEOM, Saudi Arabia) — Masterplanned by Delugan Meissl & Gensler; engineers include Mott MacDonald; developed under NEOM/PIF. Announced in 2021, now expected to complete phased works from 2045. Estimated cost: USD 500 b–1 trillion.

3-The Mukaab (New Murabba, Riyadh) — In-house Najdi-inspired design by New Murabba Development Co under PIF. Groundbreaking in 2024; completion targeted for 2030. Estimated cost: USD 50 b.

4- Skywaters Residences (Singapore) — Designed by SOM & DCA Architects; developed by Alibaba Singapore and Perennial Holdings. Construction began in 2023; scheduled for 2028. Budget: S$3 b (approx. USD 2.2 b).

5- Torch Tower (Tokyo, Japan) — Led by Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, with contributions from Sou Fujimoto, Yuko Nagayama & Fd Landscape; developed by Mitsubishi Estate Co. Started 2023; expected 2028 completion. Estimated cost: ¥500 b (≈USD 4.8 b).
