Dubai’s Metro Blue Line is set to open in September 2029, adding a 30-kilometer route with 14 stations and connecting communities that currently lack direct Metro access.
In this Property News International feature, we look at how the Blue Line could influence not only transportation, but also the way Dubai grows around its stations. The route will serve areas including Dubai Creek Harbour, Festival City, Ras Al Khor, International City, Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Al Warqa, Mirdif, and Centrepoint.
At Dubai Creek Harbour, the planned 74-meter-high Emaar station, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, is expected to become the world’s highest metro station.
By 2040, the areas served by the Blue Line are expected to be home to around one million residents, while RTA expects the project to reduce traffic congestion along its corridors by 20%.
