Zaghw's background is in civil and structural engineering, holding a bachelor's degree from Cairo University and a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati in the United States. Before joining AECOM, he spent much of his career in senior leadership roles at other engineering and consulting firms across the Middle East, building a management background that spans several decades in the industry.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Zaghw has remained closely involved in major regional programmes, serving as a project executive sponsor and joint venture board member on several of AECOM's flagship assignments. These span sectors including aviation, ports, urban development, customs and border infrastructure, and public transport, with projects including infrastructure work tied to Dubai's Expo 2020 site, Hamad Port in Qatar, the Midfield Terminal Complex in Abu Dhabi, program management support for Saudi Customs, planning work at NEOM Bay and NEOM's international airport in Saudi Arabia, continued involvement in Diriyah and AlUla, and transport infrastructure tied to the electrification of Qatar's bus network.
His responsibilities include overseeing regional operations, client relationships, business performance, and project delivery across multiple countries, while continuing to provide executive oversight on key infrastructure programmes.
Today, Zaghw continues to lead AECOM's Middle East and Africa business, overseeing multidisciplinary teams delivering infrastructure, transportation, aviation, and urban development projects across the region.
