Saudi Arabia is building one of the region’s most striking new sports venues on the edge of a 200-meter cliff overlooking Qiddiya City.
In this Property News International feature, we look at the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, designed by Populous and planned approximately 40 minutes from Riyadh.
The stadium will include a retractable roof, movable pitch and giant LED wall that can open toward the surrounding landscape. Plans call for more than 46,000 football seats, with overall capacity rising above 60,900 for concerts and other events.
Construction is also moving forward, with Elegancia Arabia securing a $221 million mechanical contract covering air conditioning, firefighting, public health and building management systems. Work under the package is scheduled through May 2030.
The stadium is also planned as a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, including a quarter-final and third-place playoff, according to Qiddiya.
