H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, visited Dalma Island this week to monitor the progress of ongoing infrastructure and service development projects. The visit reflects the UAE leadership’s focus on enhancing the quality of life in remote and strategic locations across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

During the tour, Sheikh Hamdan inspected various key projects including upgraded transport links, new housing developments, and improvements to public utilities and services. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable urban development, support community welfare, and stimulate economic activity in the Al Dhafra region.

Local officials provided updates on the pace of construction and implementation. They highlighted the emphasis placed on environmental sustainability, efficiency, and modern design standards in each project. Sheikh Hamdan reiterated that all efforts should aim to elevate living standards, offer economic opportunities, and foster long-term growth.

He also engaged with local residents, listening to their feedback and ensuring their concerns were reflected in current and future planning. “Dalma Island holds both historic and strategic significance,” Sheikh Hamdan said. “Investing in its development is essential to preserving its identity while enabling its people to thrive.”

During his recent visit to Dalma Island, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated two new ferries—Dalma and Al Dhanna. Each vessel is designed to carry up to 193 passengers and 25 vehicles, significantly enhancing maritime connectivity between the island and the mainland. These ferries are expected to reduce travel time to approximately 40 minutes, facilitating more efficient transportation for both residents and visitors.

The introduction of these modern ferries is part of a broader initiative to improve infrastructure and services on Dalma Island, aligning with Abu Dhabi's comprehensive development plans. By enhancing accessibility, the new ferries aim to support the island's economic growth and improve the quality of life for its inhabitants.
