SHARJAH, UAE – 14 July 2025 - In a significant social welfare initiative, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah has approved AED335 million (approximately USD 91 million) in direct housing support for 431 Emirati families. This effort aims to improve living conditions and promote long-term stability across the emirate.
The initiative includes support for 133 families currently renting homes, 201 families living in overcrowded conditions, and 97 families in need of renovation assistance or those who lack adequate shelter. This tailored approach ensures that support reaches families with varied housing challenges.
Each eligible family will receive financial aid structured to address their specific needs, whether it’s transitioning from rented accommodation, seeking relief from challenging living environments, or renovating their properties to acceptable standards. The goal is to provide dignified, secure housing and reinforce community well-being.
Khalid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Housing, announced the approval during a call-in segment on the “Direct Line” programme, aired by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Sharjah’s mission to foster social solidarity and uplift its citizens. The support reflects a long-term vision to ensure safe, comfortable housing and enhance the quality of life for Emirati families in need.
This substantial investment in housing infrastructure underscores Sharjah’s commitment to its citizen-centric development policies. By providing meaningful assistance, the emirate is setting a benchmark for social welfare and sustainable urban living in the UAE.
