In a powerful demonstration of Dubai's commitment to future-focused urban development, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, attended a high-level workshop organized by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) this week. The session centered on aligning transport and infrastructure planning with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, a roadmap for positioning Dubai as a global economic powerhouse.
The strategic workshop, hosted under the theme of “Future of Mobility in Dubai,” served as a platform for presenting the RTA’s upcoming projects and long-term vision. The agenda explored innovations in sustainable transport, the use of artificial intelligence in mobility systems, and smart infrastructure investments that will shape Dubai’s transformation into one of the most connected cities in the world.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the critical role of efficient, sustainable, and forward-thinking transport systems in enabling Dubai's economic, environmental, and social aspirations. “The future belongs to cities that innovate today,” he noted during the session, reinforcing the importance of real-time adaptation and agile governance in building future-ready urban infrastructure.
As part of its presentation, the RTA outlined several upcoming initiatives, including plans to expand autonomous vehicle deployment, enhance public transport efficiency, and promote clean energy adoption across Dubai’s mobility network. The workshop also discussed seamless integration of digital infrastructure and data analytics to optimize traffic flows and improve commuter experience.
The RTA’s vision is closely tied to the D33 agenda’s target of doubling the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade. With ambitious plans such as expanding the Metro system, developing “20-minute city” hubs, and scaling up electric and hydrogen-fueled transport, the Authority is preparing to play a central role in supporting economic diversification, sustainability, and smart city development.
This strategic gathering not only reaffirmed Dubai’s leadership in mobility innovation but also highlighted the collaborative spirit between government entities and stakeholders working to build a city that’s globally competitive and locally livable.
