Dubai, UAE - Austrian formwork and scaffolding company Doka is providing the formwork engineering and climbing systems for the Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences, a Business Bay tower that Doka says will be the world’s tallest residential building when completed.
The tower is being developed by Binghatti Holdings with Jacob & Co, the luxury watch and jewellery brand. Doka said work on site is now moving ahead, with its climbing systems playing a central part in the pace of construction.
Binghatti, which Doka describes as one of the largest Emirati real estate developers, first teamed up with the formwork supplier in 2024 for a series of projects in Dubai. Doka said the residential tower is envisioned as a world first in architectural horology.
According to Doka, the building’s scale and design, crowned by distinctive diamond-shaped spires, called for a formwork partner with deep engineering expertise and solutions able to deliver speed, safety and precision. The company also described the scheme as setting a new standard for luxury living and architecture in Dubai.
Taher Rihawi, Managing Director Doka Gulf, said: “We value our partnership with Binghatti and are pleased to contribute our expertise to a project of this significance. The Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences brings together exceptional engineering ambition and a strong local vision. We are proud to support its delivery with reliable formwork engineering and climbing solutions, and we look forward to continuing our close collaboration throughout the construction process.”
The contract covers a full package of formwork engineering and climbing equipment for both the vertical and horizontal elements of the structure, designed to cope with the loads and engineering needs of such a tall building.
The core and shear walls go up one floor at a time on Doka’s Automatic climbing system SKE50 plus, which works without waiting for a crane. Each cycle aims to complete a floor every week, which Doka said is essential to holding the programme.
A self-climbing platform adds extra working levels, so that teams can run several activities on site at the same time, safely and efficiently, according to the company.
