Dubai, UAE - Azizi Developments has completed a $571.82 million (AED 2.1 billion) purchase of machinery, industrial equipment and operational assets, building up a construction fleet that it owns outright.

The deal covers thousands of individual assets. They are spread across the developer’s main operating companies, Gardenia Contracting, Freesia Electromechanical Works Contracting and Royal Infra Contracting, as well as Azizi’s dedicated manufacturing factories.

Azizi’s Asset, Plant & Stores Department is managing the investment. Its largest capital items are 113 tower cranes, 13 luffing jib cranes, 77 passenger hoists and 229 suspension cradles, along with 70 heavy transport prime movers and more than 500 passenger buses.

According to the developer, owning a full plant and machinery (PMV) fleet gives it complete operational autonomy. It said the move removes its exposure to bottlenecks in the third-party rental market and speeds up project delivery.

The switch to owned equipment has already paid off in one area, the company said: better allocation of its own fleet has cut external trailer rentals by more than 80%.

Farhad Azizi, Group CEO of Azizi Group, said: “A developer that relies on others for its cranes ultimately relies on others for its promises. With this investment, the machinery that shapes our skyline is now our own, and with it comes full command over the precision, quality and pace of everything we build. Owning the entire chain, from factory floor to finished tower, is what allows us to make every commitment to our investors with complete confidence. Ultimately, this is an investment in our own assets, our people, our delivery promises, and our long-term contribution to the UAE’s built environment.”

The purchase sits within a wider programme to expand Azizi’s asset base. Besides heavy machinery, that programme takes in piling operations, precast concrete capability, fit-out, joinery and aluminium.

Last month the developer started work on workforce communities in Dubai and Sharjah for more than 31,000 people, with the Al Sajaa site placed alongside over 1 million sq ft of Azizi-owned production space.

Azizi said it has handed over more than 45,000 homes to buyers from over 100 nationalities and has about 150,000 units under construction.

The newly acquired equipment has already been mobilised across that multi-billion-dollar pipeline, and the company said the fleet now directly sets the schedules of its residential and mixed-use projects.
