Executives from Kanoo Real Estate and Edamah sign the Pier 1890 partnership at Gateway Gulf Investment Forum Bahrain 2026 (Image source: BNA)Manama, Bahrain - Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) and Kanoo Real Estate have agreed a partnership to develop Pier 1890, a leisure and commercial destination of about 11,000 sq m on Manama Corniche, next to the Shaikh Hamad Causeway.
Edamah is the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund. Kanoo Real Estate is a division of the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group.
The two companies unveiled the deal during the fourth Gateway Gulf Investment Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, which closed on 2 November.
Under the agreement, Edamah and Kanoo Real Estate have set up a framework for working together on the project. Plans call for 25 commercial units made up of restaurants, cafés and upscale shops, with 3,000 sq m of leasable space in total.
Edamah said the partnership also opens the door to further joint work and investment, in line with its strategy of widening collaboration with the private sector.

He said the partnership would support efforts to improve quality of life, strengthen Bahrain’s real estate sector and support the Kingdom’s goal of diversifying its economy.
Mohsin Abdulnabi Haji, CEO of Kanoo Real Estate, called the tie-up with Edamah an important milestone for the country’s real estate industry.
According to Haji, Pier 1890 will become a leisure and tourism draw for visitors from Bahrain and overseas. He said the scheme would also advance national urban development plans under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and reflects his company’s push to widen its property portfolio in the Kingdom.
He added that the deal shows Kanoo Real Estate’s continuing commitment to building commercial destinations shaped around what the community needs and wants, and to supporting the Kingdom’s urban growth through sustainable projects.
Edamah said the agreement fits its strategy of expanding public-private partnerships that deliver sustainable returns and long-term economic benefit. By pairing its own development capabilities with the know-how of established partners, the company said it would keep pursuing projects that boost commercial activity, create jobs and make Bahrain more attractive to investors.
At the same forum, Edamah agreed a framework with Saudi developer Retal for more than 700 units at Bilaj Al Jazayer, Retal’s first move into Bahrain.
Kanoo Real Estate appointed Mohammed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) in November 2025 to produce the architecture and engineering designs for Pier 1890. The company said then that the scheme would sit on a 10,921 sq m plot with a built-up area of 3,500 sq m, including public plazas, courtyards and a waterfront promenade.

The purchase includes 113 tower cranes and more than 500 buses across Azizi's contracting arms.

The deal includes a 200-key Taj hotel in Downtown Seef with 80 branded residences.
