Umm Al Quwain has unveiled Downtown UAQ, an ambitious coastal city project spanning over 25 million square feet. Launched by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, the development is set to transform the emirate’s coastline and redefine urban living in the Northern Emirates.
Downtown UAQ is positioned as a "city within a city," offering 11 kilometers of shoreline, including 7 kilometers of beaches and public parkland. The masterplan is divided into three key districts: North Beach, Trade Centre, and South Beach, each carefully designed to balance residential, commercial, and leisure spaces. Once completed, the city is expected to accommodate around 150,000 residents.
A major highlight of the project is the 15 million square foot Trade Centre Free Zone, which will provide a vibrant hub for business, trade, and entrepreneurship. The development will also feature luxury five-star hotels, resorts, retail centers, entertainment venues, and diverse residential communities, catering to both Emirati citizens and international investors.
Downtown UAQ emphasizes sustainability, with over 50% of the land dedicated to open spaces, green areas, and parks. The project is being developed in partnership with Sobha Realty, known for their focus on high-quality, sustainable real estate developments.
Speaking at the launch, Sheikh Rashid emphasized that Downtown UAQ will play a critical role in supporting the emirate’s economic diversification strategy, boosting tourism, creating jobs, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
With its strategic coastal location, integrated community design, and focus on sustainability, Downtown UAQ is set to become a new landmark destination within the UAE, blending natural beauty with modern urban living.
