Designed by Emre Arolat, this mosque breaks with traditional mosque typologies, offering a minimalist, cave-like structure blending seamlessly with the landscape. Inside, a curved Qibla wall channels natural light to evoke serenity and spiritual focus.

The mosque has earned numerous awards, including Religious Building of the Year and a RIBA International Excellence honor.

2. Cologne Central Mosque – Cologne, Germany

Designed by Paul Böhm and completed in 2017, the Cologne Central Mosque is one of Europe’s most striking contemporary mosques. Its bold glass and concrete design features sweeping curves and a vast central dome surrounded by towering minarets, symbolizing openness and unity.

The mosque includes prayer halls, educational facilities, and cultural spaces, making it a vibrant hub for both worship and community engagement.

3. Çamlıca Mosque – Istanbul, Turkey

Perched on Çamlıca Hill, this grand structure opened in 2019 and features six minarets, an art gallery, library, and conference hall. Designed by female architects Bahar Mızrak and Hayriye Gül Totu, it’s a 'female-friendly' mosque, complete with childcare facilities and thoughtful amenities for women.

4. Faisal Mosque – Islamabad, Pakistan

An iconic symbol of modern Islamic architecture, the Faisal Mosque’s design was inspired by Bedouin tents. Designed by Vedat Dalokay and funded by Saudi King Faisal, it opened in 1986 and is among the world’s largest mosques.

Its four towering minarets and tent-like prayer hall capably host thousands of worshippers.

5. Al-Mujadilah Mosque – Doha, Qatar

Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, this mosque is tailored exclusively for women and is situated within Education City.

Featuring an undulating roof, interior courtyards with olive trees, and thousands of conical light wells, the mosque blends innovation, spirituality, and natural beauty, nurturing both intellectual and spiritual growth.
