Shurooq Advances Sharjah Sustainable City and Ajwan Khorfakkan

SHARJAH, UAE – The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced significant construction progress across two of its flagship real estate developments, Sharjah Sustainable City (SSC) and Ajwan Khorfakkan, while unveiling a major education partnership that will introduce a new K-12 school to the Sharjah Sustainable City community.

According to WAM, the latest milestones highlight continued progress in expanding residential, educational and community infrastructure across Shurooq's growing real estate portfolio.

At Sharjah Sustainable City, construction of several key community facilities is approaching completion. The community mosque, spanning 15,224 square feet, has reached 70% completion and will accommodate 650 worshippers upon completion.

Meanwhile, the community's football field and multi-use games area (MUGA) courts, featuring tennis, basketball and volleyball facilities, are nearing completion. The football pitch measures 83 by 65 metres, while the MUGA courts extend across 64 by 19 metres.

Further enhancing the community's self-sustaining lifestyle offering, the dedicated supermarket has recently opened, providing residents with convenient access to essential retail services.

New K-12 school planned

Shurooq has also signed an agreement with SANAM Group to develop a new American curriculum K-12 school within Sharjah Sustainable City.

The project is expected to attract investments of up to US$50 million (AED183 million) over the coming years.

The campus will be developed on a 29,275-square-metre site in the Um Fanain/Al Ruqa Al Hamra area under a 35-year agreement and is designed to accommodate approximately 2,435 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Plans for the campus include modern classrooms, science and robotics laboratories, three libraries, arts studios, a black box theatre and a 500-seat multi-purpose hall, in addition to sports facilities including an indoor sports hall, football pitch and swimming pools.

Progress at Ajwan Khorfakkan

Shurooq also reported continued progress at Ajwan Khorfakkan, its integrated waterfront destination on the UAE's East Coast.

Construction is advancing across the development, with significant progress achieved on foundation, piling, marine and waterfront works. The authority also highlighted continued sales momentum and strong market demand, reinforcing Ajwan Khorfakkan's position as one of the UAE's distinctive waterfront residential destinations.
