Dubai, UAE - Sweid & Sweid has appointed London-based McLaren Construction as the main contractor for BAY360, a mixed-use waterfront development planned for Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
Enabling works at the site have been completed, with main construction now commencing and project completion targeted for the first quarter of 2028.
BAY360 will be developed partly on reclaimed land from Lake D and is planned as a new community destination combining retail and dining, wellness and recreational amenities, landscaped areas and public spaces around the waterfront.
The development is intended to improve access to the lake through new pedestrian connections and landscaped outdoor areas, creating a more active waterfront environment for residents and visitors.
Maher Sweid, Managing Partner of Sweid & Sweid, said JLT already has a substantial residential and business community but that much of the waterfront remains underused. BAY360 has been conceived as a response to that opportunity, bringing additional activity and amenities to the lake.
The appointment represents the second collaboration between Sweid & Sweid and McLaren Construction.
The two companies previously worked together on 6 Falak in Dubai Internet City, which was completed in 2024. The fully leased Grade A office building, which also houses Sweid & Sweid’s headquarters, later achieved LEED Gold certification.
Under the BAY360 contract, McLaren Construction will deliver site preparation and structural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, façade and interior fit-out, lifts and escalators, and external soft landscaping and hardscape.
The scope covers the main retail building, office building and basement parking areas.
Mark Hunt, Managing Director UAE at McLaren Construction, said the contractor’s previous work with Sweid & Sweid at 6 Falak had given the team a clear understanding of the developer’s expectations and approach to project delivery.
McLaren Construction has operated in the UAE since 2009. Its regional portfolio includes data centres, community malls, multi-storey car parks, the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and the Foster + Partners-designed House of Wisdom in Sharjah.
The London-headquartered contractor employs more than 1,100 people globally and reports annual turnover exceeding £1.1 billion.
With enabling works complete, construction activity at BAY360 is expected to accelerate through the remainder of the year ahead of the planned Q1 2028 completion.
