Dubai, UAE -KONE has been selected to provide elevator and escalator systems for Burj Azizi in Dubai, with the planned 725-metre tower set to become one of the world's tallest buildings.

The package includes 59 elevators and 15 escalators, with elevator speeds of up to 10 metres per second.

One KONE MiniSpace elevator is planned to travel 631.5 metres in a single journey, which the company said would make it one of the longest single elevator runs in the world.

High-rise technology for Burj Azizi

KONE will deploy technology from its high-rise solutions portfolio, including UMX hoisting machinery, KONE UltraRope and its AI-enabled Destination Control System.

The Destination Control System uses traffic data to adjust elevator availability according to demand. KONE said simulations show the system can reduce waiting times by around 60% during peak periods while cutting unnecessary energy use.

KONE UltraRope and UMX hoisting technology are designed to reduce the weight of elevator systems in very tall buildings, supporting longer travel distances while using less energy and material.

The tower will also use KONE 24/7 Connected Services, which monitors elevator performance and applies analytics to identify potential maintenance issues before they cause disruption.

Philippe Delorme, KONE's President and CEO, said: “As space becomes scarcer and more valuable in cities around the world, there’s no alternative to growing upwards, making advanced vertical mobility more essential than ever. With our high-rise expertise and future-proofed solutions, we create smooth, reliable journeys in landmark buildings like Burj Azizi.”

725-metre tower moves forward

Burj Azizi is planned to reach 725 metres and will include an observation deck, hotel lobby, nightclub and restaurant.

Gardinia Building Contracting, a subsidiary of Azizi Developments, is serving as the main contractor, while AE7 is the lead consultant.

Farhad Azizi, Group CEO, Azizi Group, said: “Burj Azizi represents a defining moment in Dubai’s architectural history, a 725-meter monument to engineering audacity and human ambition. KONE’s unmatched legacy in supertall structures, paired with its record-breaking single-travel elevator technology, ensures that every journey within Burj Azizi is as seamless, sustainable, and world-class as the tower itself. This partnership reflects our relentless pursuit of quality and excellence as we build an enduring legacy for the city we call home and the world at large.”

Samer Halabi, Executive Vice President, KONE Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, said: “Dubai’s continued growth and ambitious urban development call for sustainable people flow. We are proud to support Azizi Developments with energy-efficient technologies including KONE UltraRope®, enabling smooth and reliable journeys for everyone at Burj Azizi.”

KONE booked the order in the third quarter of 2026.
