Barcelona, Spain – October 10, 2025: The redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou, home to FC Barcelona, is rapidly transforming the city’s skyline, with major works progressing steadily toward completion in 2026. As the centerpiece of the club’s ambitious Espai Barça master plan, the modernization of this world-famous stadium is set to create one of the largest and most technologically advanced sports venues ever built.

A €1.5 billion transformation for a global icon

With a total investment of USD 1.6 billion (€1.5 billion), including around USD 960 million (€900 million) allocated to the Camp Nou itself, the project stands as one of Europe’s most significant sports infrastructure developments. When completed, the new stadium will boast a capacity of over 105,000 spectators, reaffirming its place among the largest football venues in the world.

The redesigned complex spans 220,000 square metres, of which approximately 75,000 square metres involve renovation. It will feature a fully roofed seating bowl, a 45,000 m² solar-panel system generating renewable energy, expanded VIP and hospitality zones, retail and dining spaces, and a new FC Barcelona museum integrated within the structure.

Construction milestones and phased reopening

Following the 2022–2023 football season, construction intensified under Limak Holding, which leads the project. By mid-2025, demolition and foundational phases had been completed, and new tiers and supports were visibly taking shape.

The stadium will reopen in stages: the first phase will accommodate about 27,000 spectators, followed by a second phase for 45,000, before reaching full capacity once safety and operational permits are secured.

During the works, FC Barcelona has relocated its home fixtures to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, allowing progress to continue uninterrupted.

At the heart of Espai Barça and urban regeneration

Spotify Camp Nou’s redevelopment is central to Espai Barça, a wider urban renewal initiative that will redefine Barcelona’s Les Corts district. The plan introduces upgraded sporting facilities, landscaped public areas, commercial and leisure zones, and improved transport links, turning the district into a vibrant, year-round destination.

Urban analysts expect the redevelopment to generate positive effects on real-estate values, hospitality growth, and commercial activity, reinforcing Barcelona’s position as a European leader in sustainable urban design and sports-driven regeneration.

Innovation, sustainability, and the fan experience

In line with FC Barcelona’s sustainability goals, the new roof will incorporate a vast network of photovoltaic panels capable of powering key operations with clean energy. Enhanced acoustics, immersive lighting, digital connectivity, and advanced crowd-management systems are also being integrated to elevate the spectator experience.

The naming-rights partnership with Spotify continues to play a vital role, combining global brand power with the club’s commercial strategy while enabling long-term financial stability.

A new era for FC Barcelona and its city

Once completed in June 2026, Spotify Camp Nou will stand as a global benchmark in stadium design, blending tradition with technology, sustainability, and community value. Beyond being FC Barcelona’s home ground, the venue will act as a cultural and economic catalyst, reshaping both the club’s legacy and the city’s urban fabric.
