Elegancia Arabia wins $221m Qiddiya stadium mechanical contract

Qatari-owned contractor Elegancia Arabia has secured a SAR829 million ($221 million) mechanical package for the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia.

Elegancia Arabia Trading is part of the Contracting and Industries business of Qatar-based Estithmar Holding. The award is the company’s largest project in Saudi Arabia to date, according to Estithmar Holding.

The contract will be executed by Elegancia Electromechanical Services and covers heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), public health, firefighting and Building Management System (BMS) works. Estithmar said the package is scheduled to run from September 2026 to May 2030 and is expected to involve about 3,000 Elegancia employees during different stages of execution.

The stadium is being developed at Qiddiya City on the 200-metre-high Tuwaiq cliff, around 40 minutes from Riyadh.

The venue will have more than 46,000 football seats and an overall capacity exceeding 60,900 for other events, according to Qiddiya Investment Company. It is designed as the world's first fully integrated venue combining a retractable roof, pitch and LED wall.

The main construction works are being carried out by a joint venture between Spain's FCC Construction and Saudi Arabia's Nesma & Partners, according to the original project reporting supplied to PNI.

US architecture firm Populous designed the stadium. The venue is planned as the future home ground of Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.

Qiddiya stadium to host 2034 FIFA World Cup matchesBold

The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium is a designated venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which Saudi Arabia will host. Qiddiya says the stadium is scheduled to stage matches including a quarter-final and the third-place playoff.

The stadium is also being developed as a multipurpose sports and entertainment venue, with more than 50,000 square metres of surrounding retail, dining and entertainment space. Qiddiya expects it to host more than 60 football matches a year.

Estithmar Holding confirmed the SAR829 million contract award on 10 September 2026, identifying it specifically as the stadium's mechanical package.
