Dubai RTA Completes 13km Road Project Across 18 Residential Areas

DUBAI, UAE – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a road connections project spanning 18 residential areas across the emirate, delivering a total of 13 kilometres of new links as part of its wider efforts to support urban expansion, improve traffic movement and enhance residential accessibility.

The project also included a package of traffic improvements, as well as the delivery of roadside parking spaces, pavements and street lighting across the targeted communities, further strengthening local infrastructure and day-to-day mobility for residents.

The latest works form part of RTA’s broader programme of road and infrastructure development across Dubai, aimed at keeping pace with population growth and expanding urban districts while maintaining high standards of road safety, operational efficiency and user experience.

According to the authority, the newly completed connections improve access to and from residential neighbourhoods through the paving of previously unpaved roads, helping to strengthen road connectivity and improve the overall performance of local transport networks.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, said the completed works have contributed to smoother traffic flow and reduced journey times by up to 40 percent in the areas covered, while also providing motorists with a safer and more efficient driving experience.

Al Shehhi added, “RTA implemented the project according to a phased timeline designed to cover the 18 residential areas, namely Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za’abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1, Al Quoz 3, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, Al Mizhar 1, and Al Mizhar 2.”

The authority said the project reflects its continued focus on advancing seamless and sustainable mobility across the emirate, while improving the urban environment and supporting quality of life in fast-growing residential communities.

RTA continues to implement traffic enhancement measures and rapid road improvement solutions designed to increase vehicular capacity, improve operational efficiency and ensure smoother movement across Dubai’s wider road network.
