DCIB appointed main contractor for King’s College Hospital Dubai expansion

Dubai, UAE - DCIB Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the Phase 2 expansion of King’s College Hospital London – Dubai Hills, which will increase the hospital’s capacity to 200 beds.

The project will expand the hospital’s medical, surgical and critical-care capabilities, including radiation oncology and enhanced specialist services. Completion is scheduled for 2028.

A groundbreaking ceremony on 23 September 2026 marked the formal start of the expansion. Attendees included H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Kimberley Pierce and members of the project delivery team. ⠀

Project delivery team

DCIB Construction will lead delivery alongside its mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) joint venture partner, Menasco Mechanical Contracting.

Ensari Project Management and Development Consultancy is the client representative, while AtkinsRéalis is the project management consultancy. HDP is the resident engineer and supervision consultant, and H+A is the lead designer.

Specialist healthcare construction

According to DCIB Construction, the expansion requires the integration of structural, architectural, MEP and specialist clinical systems, supported by controls covering safety, quality, programme, coordination and clinical functionality.

Radiation-shielded facilities

DCIB identified radiation-shielded construction and nuclear bunker facilities as areas of expertise within its healthcare portfolio.

These environments require precision in shielding structures, high-density concrete, specialist penetrations, medical equipment interfaces and complex MEP coordination, the contractor said.

DCIB added that these capabilities support the delivery of oncology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine environments, where construction accuracy, engineering coordination and regulatory compliance are integral to the safe and effective operation of advanced medical technology.
