Ashraf Nessim – Chief Executive Officer of MuriyaToday he oversees one of the largest private tourism and real estate portfolios in the Sultanate, anchored by flagship Integrated Tourism Complexes at Jebel Sifah, near Muscat, and Hawana Salalah, in Dhofar, alongside As Sodah Island, a one-million-square-metre private island development off Oman's southern coast. The portfolio spans close to 20.8 million square metres of master-planned land and represents more than $750 million in investment, with over 1,500 homes sold and delivered, more than 1,200 hotel rooms, two award-winning marinas with 290-plus berths, championship golf, waterfront retail and a roster of leisure attractions; a benchmark for integrated development in the GCC, creating thousands of jobs, attracting international investment, expanding Oman's tourism economy and directly supporting the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040.
The true measure of a great destination is not the number of buildings it contains, but the quality of life it creates. At Muriya, we build integrated communities where people choose to live, invest, visit and return, for generations.
Since taking the helm, Nessim has sharpened Muriya's focus on customer experience, sustainable growth and long-term value, strengthening investor confidence in Oman's expanding real estate market and moving the company beyond traditional property development toward places where tourism, hospitality, lifestyle and investment converge within a single, fully integrated destination. His vision for the company is ambitious and clear: to scale Muriya's flagship destinations, broaden their residential, hospitality and lifestyle offering, and establish the business as a regional leader in integrated, sustainable destination development over the decade ahead.
Alongside this expansion, he has championed digital transformation across customer engagement, sales, marketing and operations, enabling Muriya to deliver smarter experiences while improving efficiency and long-term operational performance.
That ambition is built on rare pedigree. Before Muriya, Nessim served as Group Chief Financial Officer of Orascom Development Holding, one of the world's leading integrated destination developers, and he continues to serve as a Board Member of Orascom Development Egypt, listed on the Egyptian Exchange. Orascom Development holds a diverse portfolio of destinations across popular tourism areas in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, covering more than 100 million square metres and spanning hotels, private villas, apartments, marinas, golf courses and supporting infrastructure. As Group CFO, Nessim shaped the financial strategy, governance and investment planning behind this complex, multi-country portfolio, giving him an unusually complete view of how great destinations are financed, built and sustained.
Few executives in the GCC property sector have managed both the financial strategy of a global destination developer and the end-to-end delivery of integrated tourism destinations. That combination gives Nessim a unique perspective, balancing investment discipline with placemaking, operational excellence and long-term destination value creation.
Earlier roles at Orascom Development Egypt, Beltone Private Equity and Mobiserve deepened his expertise in investment, corporate finance and operational restructuring, while in his early career he established Raya Distribution's operations in Algeria and ran nationwide retail for Nokia and Samsung across Egypt. A mechanical engineer by training, he was among the first professionals in Egypt to earn the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Our ambition is simple: to create destinations that become benchmarks for integrated living in the region, where exceptional design, sustainable growth and unforgettable experiences come together to deliver lasting value for residents, investors and Oman alike.
His leadership philosophy joins analytical discipline with a place-first conviction, built on collaboration, accountability and sustainable value creation. For Nessim, successful destinations are never measured solely by square metres developed or units sold; their true success lies in creating places where people aspire to live, businesses thrive, tourism flourishes and communities continue to grow for generations. As Muriya enters its next chapter, that belief continues to shape destinations that lift lifestyles, draw international investors and visitors, and reinforce Oman's standing as one of the region's most compelling places to live, invest and visit.
