Sharjah, UAE: The Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department (SRERD) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) to activate a direct electronic link between the two entities, marking a significant step forward in the digitisation of real estate registration and mortgage services in the emirate.

The initiative forms part of SRERD’s wider strategy to modernise and digitise its services, enhancing the efficiency of real estate registration and financing procedures in line with the Sharjah Government’s digital transformation agenda and its push towards smart, interconnected public services.

The signing ceremony was attended by Abdul Aziz Ahmed Al-Shamsi, Director-General of the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department, and Mohamed Abdalla, Chief Executive Officer of Sharjah Islamic Bank. The memorandum was signed by Abdulaziz Rashid Al-Saleh, Director of SRERD, and Obaid Saif bin Khadem, Head of the Mortgages Department and Shareholder Relations at Sharjah Islamic Bank.

Under the agreement, a fully integrated electronic connection will enable the execution of mortgage-related procedures linked to banking services. This includes the registration, amendment, cancellation, and release of mortgage contracts, significantly streamlining processes that traditionally required multiple steps and physical presence.

The partnership also allows Sharjah Islamic Bank to access SRERD’s electronic system to conduct inquiries, verifications, and compliance-related transactions digitally, in accordance with applicable legislation and regulatory frameworks. The electronic linkage will operate using the latest encryption technologies and the highest standards of data protection, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity while eliminating the need for in-person visits. This is expected to reduce processing times, lower administrative burdens, and improve overall accuracy and service quality.

Commenting on the agreement, Abdul Aziz Ahmed Al-Shamsi said that the partnership represents an important milestone in strengthening Sharjah’s real estate ecosystem and advancing digital integration between government bodies and financial institutions. He noted that enabling banks to access the department’s electronic systems reflects a strong commitment to transparency, precision, and speed in service delivery, adding that cooperation with Sharjah Islamic Bank will support investor attraction by simplifying real estate transactions through advanced digital solutions.

Mohamed Abdalla said the agreement underscores Sharjah Islamic Bank’s commitment to supporting the Sharjah Government’s digital transformation initiatives, particularly in the areas of real estate registration and mortgage financing. He added that the collaboration leverages advanced digital solutions to streamline mortgage procedures, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the customer experience, while contributing to the sustainability of the real estate sector and strengthening investor confidence in the emirate.

Overall, the memorandum represents an extension of SRERD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and enable partners to benefit from its services remotely. The move aligns with Sharjah’s broader vision of advancing smart government operations and stimulating economic and real estate growth through strategic public-private partnerships.
