JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: Construction on the Jeddah Tower, set to become the world’s tallest building, is gaining steady momentum, with the structure now reaching its 74th floor, according to Talal Ibrahim Almaiman, CEO of Kingdom Holding Company.
“As the flagship asset of our land portfolio, the JEC Tower continues to show excellent progress,” Almaiman said in the company’s Q3 2025 financial statement. “We are targeting a five-to-six-day construction cycle per floor across all sections by the end of 2025.”
Rising on the north side of Jeddah along the Red Sea, the Jeddah Tower will redefine the city’s skyline and global architectural benchmarks once complete. Designed to soar approximately 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) high, the tower will surpass the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, currently the world’s tallest structure.
The development will feature luxury residences, office spaces, commercial outlets, and a five-star hotel, as well as the world’s highest observation deck at 630 meters.
The project is being developed by Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), with Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) serving as the principal contractor. Dar Al-Handasah (Shair & Partners) is providing engineering consultancy, Turner Project Management is overseeing construction progress, and the tower’s design is led by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the same architects behind the Burj Khalifa.
After being paused in early 2018 amid a national anti-corruption drive, construction was restarted in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in the kingdom’s renewed development momentum. The project’s completion is expected by 2028.
Watch: Jeddah Tower – The Future Tallest Building in the World
To meet the ambitious goal of a five-to-six-day construction cycle per floor, JEC and its partners are deploying advanced engineering methods and modular building technologies. The goal is to accelerate vertical progress while maintaining structural precision and safety at unprecedented heights.
In October 2025, KONE, the Finland-based global elevator and escalator company, announced it had secured the contract to supply the tower’s vertical transportation systems. The order includes high-speed elevators capable of traveling more than 10 meters per second, designed specifically for super-tall buildings like Jeddah Tower.
Jeddah Tower represents a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda, reinforcing the kingdom’s commitment to economic diversification and global leadership in real estate innovation. Once complete, the tower will anchor the broader Jeddah Economic City, a mixed-use urban development expected to attract residents, tourists, and investors from around the world.
The project embodies the kingdom’s transformation journey, merging visionary architecture with cutting-edge technology and sustainable design. Beyond its sheer height, the Jeddah Tower aims to symbolize Saudi Arabia’s aspirations for progress, innovation, and global engagement.
