Europhon Acoustics completes DEWA Al Shera'a Headquarters project

DUBAI, UAE – Europhon Acoustics® has completed a major acoustic installation at the Al Shera'a Headquarters of the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), delivering approximately 5,000 square metres of MELO® Acoustic Plaster to enhance acoustic comfort within one of the world's most advanced sustainable government buildings.

The project reflects the growing emphasis on employee wellbeing and workplace performance across government developments in the GCC, where acoustic comfort is increasingly being prioritised alongside indoor air quality, daylight and thermal performance.

According to the company, the UAE's wellness economy is valued at approximately US$40.8 billion, while 90% of residents say they prioritise healthy living and working environments. As sustainability standards continue to evolve, acoustic performance is becoming an increasingly important element of building design.

Delivering seamless acoustic performance

Europhon Acoustics supplied and installed approximately 5,000 square metres of MELO® Acoustic Plaster across the building's lobbies, gym and office spaces, achieving an NRC 0.90 sound absorption target throughout a series of architecturally complex curved spaces without visible joints or panel lines.

Engineering sound into complex architecture

Large workplace environments require carefully engineered acoustic systems to maintain speech clarity and provide comfortable working environments.

At Al Shera'a Headquarters, the building's sweeping curves and non-standard geometries ruled out the use of conventional modular acoustic panels.

MELO® Acoustic Plaster was selected for its seamless monolithic finish, eliminating visible joints while meeting the project's demanding acoustic requirements. The system delivered the required NRC 0.90 sound absorption performance using its standard finish without requiring custom formulations, helping to control reverberation across the building's lobbies and office areas.

Installation required custom-cut profiles to accommodate curved surfaces, close on-site coordination around complex wall geometries, and precise finishing to maintain the system's seamless appearance throughout the project. Europhon Acoustics managed both the supply and installation over a 12-month programme.

Supporting sustainable buildings

Beyond its acoustic performance, MELO® also contributes to the project's LEED certification objectives through its low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, supporting healthier indoor air quality in line with sustainable building standards.

As LEED and WELL certifications increasingly place greater emphasis on occupant health alongside environmental sustainability, acoustic performance is emerging as an important measurable ESG consideration.

The company said demand for acoustic solutions continues to accelerate across the GCC, driven by growing focus on occupant wellbeing, productivity and higher sustainability standards.

Beyond government developments, Europhon Acoustics expects sectors including hospitality, retail, healthcare and education to drive the next phase of growth as acoustic comfort becomes an increasingly standard component of building design.

Building on its contribution to landmark developments such as DEWA Al Shera'a Headquarters, Europhon Acoustics said it plans to continue expanding its presence across the GCC while advancing high-performance acoustic solutions for sustainable developments.
