Saudi Arabia Completes First Tokenised Property Deed Transfer

Saudi Arabia has completed its first sovereign, end-to-end tokenised property deed transfer, marking a major milestone in blockchain-enabled real estate infrastructure. The transaction compressed settlement timelines from days to seconds by directly linking the Kingdom’s Real Estate Registry with a blockchain settlement layer, embedding national property law into the transaction process itself.

The transfer, conducted between the National Housing Company and the Real Estate Development Fund, used digital tokens to represent both the official title deed and ownership interest. Regulatory compliance, ownership rules, and real-time delivery-versus-payment mechanisms were built directly into the token logic, ensuring legal enforceability and secure settlement.

The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to digitise its real estate market, unlock liquidity, and attract global capital. Officials say the infrastructure will be rolled out across the Kingdom’s real estate pipeline, positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in practical, sovereign blockchain adoption.
