New UAE–Saudi trade bridge boosts logistics connectivity Image: GulftainerDubai, UAE / Dammam, Saudi Arabia: The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced a new partnership with Gulftainer to establish a trade bridge connecting Sharjah and Dammam, aimed at strengthening logistics integration and enhancing the flow of goods between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The initiative is designed to integrate land and sea transport networks, accelerate cross-border cargo movement, and improve overall supply chain efficiency, supporting faster access to regional markets and facilitating trade growth between the two economies.
Mawani described the initiative as “a step that enhances logistics integration and supports the smooth flow of goods between the two countries with high operational efficiency.”
The UAE–Saudi Arabia trade bridge will connect key ports and inland logistics hubs, enabling a more coordinated and streamlined approach to cargo movement across both markets.
By reducing transit times and improving operational efficiency, the corridor is expected to create significant value for regional supply chains. The initiative is also set to enhance distribution networks and provide more reliable logistics routes, addressing increasing demand for faster and more predictable cross-border trade.
In addition to operational improvements, the bridge will contribute to strengthening trade ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, supporting the expansion of regional commerce and reinforcing supply chain resilience.
Gulftainer highlighted that the trade bridge will leverage a combination of infrastructure assets, including the Khorfakkan Inland Corridor, Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, and Sajaa Dry Port, to deliver a fully integrated logistics solution.
By combining inland and land-sea connectivity, the corridor will enable direct and efficient cargo movement from Sharjah to Dammam, creating faster and more seamless transport links between the two markets.
The approach is expected to optimise cargo flow, reduce bottlenecks, and improve the reliability of supply chains, while supporting the growing volume of trade across the Gulf region.

As regional economies continue to invest in infrastructure and supply chain integration, initiatives such as this are playing an increasingly important role in facilitating trade, improving efficiency, and supporting long-term economic growth.
The announcement follows recent developments aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, including the activation of the Green Corridor between the ports of Oman and Dubai for sea and air cargo shipments, highlighting a wider push to streamline trade flows across the region.
