KHORFAKKAN, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the new Khorfakkan Resort on Thursday, marking the launch of a major waterfront hospitality and residential destination aimed at strengthening tourism and investment activity in the eastern region of the emirate.

The inauguration took place in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The project was developed by Asas Real Estate, the property arm of Sharjah Islamic Bank, at a total cost of approximately AED700 million ($190.6 million).

Major addition to Khorfakkan’s tourism landscape

According to WAM, upon arrival, His Highness unveiled the commemorative plaque officially inaugurating the resort before touring its various facilities and amenities.

The resort extends across a land area of approximately 330,000 square feet, with a built-up area reaching nearly 1.4 million square feet, positioning it among the region’s significant mixed-use hospitality and residential developments.

His Highness was briefed on the project’s layout and facilities, which include a ground floor, two parking levels and nine residential floors.

The development comprises 573 residential units ranging from one-bedroom apartments to larger four-bedroom residences with living rooms, alongside 16 retail outlets designed to support a fully integrated residential and hospitality environment.

Strategic waterfront location

Located directly on Khorfakkan Beach, the resort benefits from proximity to key landmarks including the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre and the city’s waterfall attraction.

The development offers panoramic views across four distinct fronts combining the sea, beach, city and surrounding mountains, creating what officials described as a destination blending natural surroundings with modern lifestyle amenities.

The project includes a wide range of recreational and service facilities, including a gymnasium, outdoor swimming pools, elevated landscaped green spaces covering approximately 100,000 square feet, and a recreational sports area for children.

The resort also features a private beach and integrated hotel-style services designed to cater to both residents and visitors.

Freehold ownership for all nationalities

One of the project’s key features is the availability of freehold ownership for all nationalities, further enhancing its investment appeal and aligning with Sharjah’s broader strategy to attract regional and international investment into its tourism and real estate sectors.

The development reflects ongoing efforts by Sharjah to expand high-quality tourism infrastructure across the emirate while diversifying hospitality offerings beyond the UAE’s larger metropolitan centres.

Supporting economic and tourism growth

Khorfakkan Resort is expected to contribute significantly to tourism and economic activity in the city by creating an integrated destination combining residential accommodation, hospitality services and recreational facilities.

The project also supports Sharjah’s long-term sustainable development plans aimed at enhancing quality of life, expanding tourism capacity and strengthening investment opportunities across the emirate’s eastern region.

Khorfakkan has increasingly emerged as one of the UAE’s growing coastal tourism destinations, benefiting from continued infrastructure investment, waterfront developments and expanding leisure attractions.

The launch of Khorfakkan Resort further reinforces the city’s positioning as a lifestyle and tourism destination offering a combination of natural scenery, hospitality and integrated urban development.
