Makkah, Saudi Arabia – October 14, 2025: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has officially announced the King Salman Gate project, a monumental mixed-use development set to redefine urban life in the Holy City of Makkah.

Covering up to 12 million square meters of gross floor area adjacent to AlMasjid AlHaram, the project represents one of the most ambitious urban regeneration initiatives in the Kingdom’s history. Designed as a world-class model of sustainable city planning, King Salman Gate will integrate residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural components to enhance the experience of millions of visitors and pilgrims each year.

A Vision for Modern Makkah

King Salman Gate aims to enhance access to AlMasjid AlHaram, improve infrastructure and services, and elevate the spiritual and cultural journey for pilgrims in alignment with the Pilgrim Experience Program. The development will feature approximately 900,000 indoor and outdoor prayer spaces, supported by smart infrastructure and advanced mobility systems seamlessly linked to public transportation networks.

The project will also preserve and restore 19,000 square meters of heritage sites, reflecting Makkah’s cultural depth while incorporating modern architectural design inspired by its historic identity.

Economic and Social Impact

The transformative urban project will play a significant role in advancing Saudi Vision 2030, generating more than 300,000 jobs by 2036 and driving economic diversification through tourism, construction, and real estate.

His Royal Highness emphasized that King Salman Gate will “strengthen Makkah’s role as a spiritual and urban center for the world, uniting heritage, innovation, and hospitality in service of pilgrims and visitors.”

Developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company

As a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, RUA AlHaram AlMakki leads the project with a focus on sustainable resource management, innovation, and world-class design. The company is committed to developing Makkah’s central area into a model of integrated, inclusive, and environmentally responsible urban growth.

With King Salman Gate, Makkah’s skyline and urban fabric will be transformed — blending faith, tradition, and modernity to create an enduring legacy at the heart of the Holy City.
