Engel & Völkers Appoints New License Partner for Ibiza and Formentera

LONDON – Engel & Völkers has appointed Mathias Handschumacher as the new License Partner for Ibiza and Formentera, effective 1 July 2026, marking the company's 25th anniversary on Ibiza and reinforcing its long-term growth strategy across two of Europe's most sought-after residential property markets.

The leadership transition is intended to strengthen continuity while supporting the further expansion of Engel & Völkers' market presence across Ibiza and Formentera.

Commenting on the appointment, Florian Hofer, Master License Partner of Engel & Völkers in the Balearic Islands, said:

Handschumacher already serves as License Partner for Engel & Völkers Mallorca Northeast and the Worms location in Germany. His appointment expands his responsibilities within the Engel & Völkers network to include one of the Mediterranean's most prestigious second-home markets.

Expanding market presence

The company said the objective is to further strengthen its position across Ibiza while expanding its presence throughout all segments of the second-home market, ranging from apartments to luxury villas.

As part of its medium-term strategy, Engel & Völkers plans to open an additional office on Ibiza to increase regional market coverage and enhance brand visibility.

The existing local team will also continue to expand, allowing for greater regional specialisation and increased activity on neighbouring Formentera.

The transition builds on the work of Florian Fischer, who has spent the past 25 years establishing Engel & Völkers' two Ibiza offices and positioning the company among the island's leading premium real estate agencies.

The company said this foundation will support its next phase of growth across both islands.
