Dubai construction sector sees strong Q1 2026 growth with 10,700+ permits

Dubai, UAE: Dubai’s construction sector delivered a strong performance in the first quarter of 2026, with more than 10,776 building permits issued, underscoring sustained development momentum and reinforcing the emirate’s position as a leading global hub for urban growth and investment.

The results, reported by Dubai Municipality, reflect continued alignment with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, supported by an integrated framework of smart services, regulatory innovation, and sustainable development strategies.

Building permit issuance increased by 12% year-on-year, highlighting robust demand for development projects across residential, commercial, and service-related sectors. The growth has been supported by enhanced digital services and streamlined approval processes designed to improve efficiency and investor experience throughout the licensing lifecycle.

Dubai Municipality also conducted 10,855 on-site structural inspections during the quarter, reflecting the scale of ongoing construction activity and adherence to high technical and engineering standards across all project phases.

Construction activity and supply chains remain strong

The total volume of concrete supplied to active construction sites reached 824,381 cubic metres, indicating a steady pace of project execution and strong coordination across the construction ecosystem.

This level of activity underscores the efficiency of logistics networks and supply chains supporting timely project delivery, while reinforcing confidence in Dubai’s construction and development infrastructure.

The total permitted built-up area reached nearly 3.9 million square metres, representing a 48% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This expansion reflects the diversity of development activity across the emirate, spanning large-scale residential communities, commercial hubs, and mixed-use projects.

The growth aligns with Dubai’s long-term urban development strategy, focused on delivering integrated, sustainable communities that enhance quality of life while supporting population growth and economic diversification.

Improved project delivery and completion

In addition to permit issuance, Dubai Municipality issued 3,154 building completion certificates, indicating improved efficiency across the full project lifecycle. This includes faster transitions from licensing and construction through to completion and handover, supporting ongoing economic activity.
