Image: Dubai Media OfficeDubai, UAE: DMCC has announced the opening of The Plaza at Uptown Dubai, introducing a 21,000 square metre open-air venue designed to anchor the district’s masterplan and support its next phase of growth.
Positioned at the centre of Uptown Dubai, the new space is configured to host corporate gatherings, international conferences, concerts and large-scale public events for up to 4,000 guests. The Plaza is intended to strengthen the district’s ability to convene global industries, reinforcing Dubai’s broader role as a hub for trade, finance and technology.
Strategically located, The Plaza forms a physical link between Uptown Tower and the surrounding commercial and residential components of Uptown Dubai, enhancing connectivity and spatial cohesion across the mixed-use district. The venue is equipped with advanced staging systems, integrated lighting and digital display infrastructure, enabling year-round programming and efficient event operations.
Commenting on the milestone, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, said:
The opening of The Plaza marks a defining milestone in the evolution of Uptown Dubai, transforming the district into a destination that brings people together through business, culture, and shared experiences. Spanning 21,000 square metres and designed to host up to 4,000 guests, The Plaza introduces a scale and capability that position Uptown Dubai as a premier venue for major international events, as well as everyday community moments. As we continue to advance the Uptown Dubai masterplan, The Plaza will play a central role in activating the district and creating a strong sense of place, supporting Dubai’s vision as one of the world’s best cities to live, work, and visit.
The inauguration of The Plaza coincides with continued expansion across Uptown Dubai. Two commercial towers currently under development rising 23 and 17 storeys respectively will deliver a combined 62,000 square metres of Grade A office and retail space.
Upon full completion, the district will offer a total gross floor area of 538,000 square metres, including 232,000 square metres dedicated to Grade A commercial office space. The scale of development underscores DMCC’s long-term strategy to create an integrated urban environment that supports sustained business performance and attracts global talent.
As construction advances, Uptown Dubai continues to evolve into a cohesive, high-density commercial and residential destination. With The Plaza now operational, the district gains a central civic and event space designed to activate public life while strengthening Dubai’s position as a global centre for innovation, investment and international trade.
