Dubai, UAE - AtkinsRéalis has appointed Julian Hill as Head of Rail for Asia, the Middle East and Australia, while also naming him Global Rail Development Director as the company looks to expand its position across major transport markets.

The appointment comes as AtkinsRéalis identifies more than $3.9 trillion in planned and pipeline rail and transit projects across the AMEA region.

Hill will work with the company’s transportation leadership across individual markets to support major rail opportunities in the region. In his global development role, he will also help identify and advance priority rail pursuits across AtkinsRéalis’ wider international business.

He brings more than 30 years of international rail and infrastructure experience and joins AtkinsRéalis from NEOM, where he served as Executive Director, Regional Infrastructure.

Before joining NEOM, Hill was Chief Operating Officer at Etihad Rail. He also previously spent more than a decade with AtkinsRéalis, where he led its rail activities across the Middle East and Africa.

His project experience includes work on several major transport programmes in the region, including Riyadh Metro, Doha Metro, Dubai Metro, Lusail Light Rail Transit and Etihad Rail. He has also worked on rail projects in Hong Kong and other Asian markets.

AtkinsRéalis President for Asia, Middle East and Australia Richard Robinson said: “Rail is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of mobility.”

He said Hill’s previous experience with AtkinsRéalis, combined with his work on major regional transport programmes, would support the company as it pursues new infrastructure opportunities across AMEA.

AtkinsRéalis is already involved in major rail and transit programmes across the region, including Riyadh Metro, Doha Metro, Dubai Metro and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Rail Link.

The company provides services across planning, engineering, systems integration and programme delivery, with rail remaining one of its key growth areas across the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
