Germany - Construction technology company All3 is preparing to move its four-legged Mantis robots from testing into live building work as part of its wider push to automate construction.

The London-based company is developing an integrated system that combines AI-powered design software, robotic factories and autonomous on-site assembly. Its Mantis platform is designed specifically for construction rather than general-purpose robotics.

The latest version of Mantis is a fully electric, four-legged robot built to operate in unfinished construction environments. All3 says the machine weighs 135kg and uses interchangeable tools to carry out tasks including installation, fastening, finishing and inspection.

The company's next major milestone is the deployment of Mantis on its first live construction project in early 2027. All3 is also developing systems that would allow several robots to work together on the same site, including coordinated assembly, autonomous battery swapping and checking completed work against digital building models.

All3 raised $25 million in seed funding in April 2026 in a round led by RTP Global, with participation from SuperSeed, Begin Capital, s16vc and VNV Global. The company said the funding would support research and development and the deployment of robots on construction projects in Germany.

More than 100,000 square metres of residential projects have already been processed through All3's AI-powered design software, forming part of its construction pipeline in Germany for 2026 and 2027.

All3 says its integrated construction model can reduce project timelines by up to 50% and embodied carbon by up to 25% compared with traditional construction methods. These figures are company estimates rather than independently verified project results.

The move into live construction will provide an important test of whether autonomous robots can perform reliably in active building environments where site conditions change as work progresses.
