Dubai, UAE - Al Ghurair Development has confirmed Julfar Contracting, a member of Rashed Al Jabri Group of Companies, as main contractor on Weave, its 130-home premium residential project in Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC).

Julfar was handed the site in July 2026, once the enabling works there had finished ahead of schedule. The developer said Weave remains on course to be completed by the second quarter of 2028.

Those enabling works went to Geo Foundation Group, which Al Ghurair Development appointed in December 2025, six weeks after the launch. When the company broke ground on the project, it named Turner & Townsend as project management consultant to oversee delivery and construction management.

On site, mobilisation is now fully complete and 70% of the substructure works are done, according to the developer. Julfar has assigned more than 100 people to the job, a team of project management, technical and engineering professionals alongside site personnel.

Al Ghurair Development described these early stages as significant progress in turning Weave’s architectural vision into a building, and said the work rests on a clear commitment to construction quality, safety and on-time delivery.

The apartments are one-, two- and three-bedroom units of approximately 700 to 2,200 sq ft. Weave’s first release sold out after what the developer called a strong response from buyers, with prices starting from $326,753 (AED 1.2 million), according to its December 2025 announcement.

Australian architect Joe Adsett designed the scheme, his first in the Middle East. According to the developer, Weave reflects its belief that good architecture starts with an understanding of how people live.

That thinking runs from the layout of each home to the shared spaces meant to support wellbeing and connection, Al Ghurair Development said. The design takes account of residents’ routines, relationships and changing needs, with the aim of homes that stay relevant through different stages of life.

Julfar Contracting, established in 1995, brings more than three decades of construction experience. Its record covers mid- and high-rise homes, offices and mixed-use buildings in Dubai and other emirates, including several residential towers in JVC.

Sultan Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair Development, said: “Weave reflects our approach to residential development, where thoughtful architecture is supported by practical planning, quality execution and long-term value for residents. Completing the enabling works ahead of schedule shows the discipline we bring to delivery, and appointing Julfar Contracting as main contractor is an important milestone as the project advances on site. Their expertise and track record give us confidence that Joe Adsett’s design will be delivered with the precision and attention to detail it demands, while preserving the functionality and design integrity that buyers responded to from the outset.”

The façade takes its cue from ‘safafa’, the traditional craft of weaving palm fronds, given a contemporary treatment. Sculptural balconies lend the elevations movement and depth. Inside, the developer said, the homes have generously proportioned rooms, open-plan living, easy movement between spaces and quiet private areas.

On the roof, a private club for residents combines wellness, leisure and social areas. Up there, residents will find a pool, Jacuzzis and an ice bath, a sauna and steam room, space for fitness and yoga, a private cinema, places to barbecue and dine, and a lounge suited to hosting guests or co-working.

Rashed Matar Al Jabri, Founder & Chairman of Rashed Al Jabri Group, said: “Weave is a distinctive project that requires a high level of technical coordination to translate its architectural vision into reality. We are pleased to partner with Al Ghurair Development on its delivery, bringing our technical expertise and rigorous approach to every stage of construction. Since taking handover of the site in July, our teams have moved quickly into main works, and we are pleased with the progress achieved to date. Our focus will be on delivering the design as intended, with precision, quality and close attention to detail throughout.”

Beyond property development, the Al Ghurair group works in Foods, Mobility, Infrastructure and Property Management, sectors it said have long been part of everyday life in the UAE. The group said the experience it has built up since 1960 shapes how its development arm approaches homes, on the view that a building’s true value lies not only in its construction but in how it serves the people living in it, now and for generations to come.

Weave opens Al Ghurair Development’s premium residential range, and the company said a strong pipeline of schemes follows it. Tessera, a Dubai South community inspired by townhouses, was launched recently with Aires Mateus as designer, while Neri&Hu is behind a residential project still to come in Wadi Al Safa 3.

Kengo Kuma has designed Wedyan on Dubai Canal, a 46-storey super-prime residence under the Al Ghurair Collection name, and Pelli Clarke & Partners is leading a masterplan on the scale of a district in Al Jaddaf.
