Image: WAMDubai, UAE: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the contract for Phase II of the Hessa Street Development, advancing one of the emirate’s key road infrastructure upgrades aimed at easing congestion and supporting residential growth corridors.
The second phase covers a 3-kilometre stretch between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road. Works will include the upgrade of three major intersections through the construction of bridges extending 8,835 metres and a 480-metre tunnel, alongside enhancements to entry and exit points across several connecting roads.
Upon completion, the project is expected to double Hessa Street’s capacity from 4,000 vehicles per hour to 8,000 vehicles per hour. The corridor serves 10 residential and development areas, benefiting approximately 650,000 residents. Journey times along the stretch are projected to be reduced from 24 minutes to five minutes.
