Qatar's real estate market recorded more than $476 million in property transactions during May, led by activity in Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Dhaayen.DOHA, QATAR – Qatar's real estate market maintained solid activity in May 2026, with property transactions exceeding QAR1.73 billion ($476 million), reflecting continued demand across the country's residential, commercial and investment sectors.
According to data released by the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice, a total of 425 real estate transactions were recorded during the month, with Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Dhaayen emerging as the most active municipalities by transaction value.
Doha led the market with property transactions worth QAR599 million ($164.5 million), followed by Al Rayyan at QAR538.6 million ($148 million) and Al Dhaayen at QAR368.4 million ($101.2 million). Together, the three municipalities accounted for the majority of trading activity during the month.
Other active areas included Al Wakrah, which recorded transactions valued at QAR97.8 million ($26.9 million), followed by Umm Salal at QAR88.8 million ($24.4 million), Al Khor and Al Dhakira at QAR57.1 million ($15.7 million), and Al Shamal at QAR22.4 million ($6.1 million).
In terms of land area traded, Al Rayyan dominated the market, accounting for 47% of all traded real estate area during May. Doha followed with 18%, while Al Dhaayen represented 15%. Al Wakrah contributed 7%, with Umm Salal and Al Khor and Al Dhakira each accounting for 5%.
Transaction volume followed a similar pattern. Al Rayyan recorded the highest share of completed property sales at 33% of all transactions, ahead of Doha at 26% and Al Dhaayen at 16%.
Market activity was also supported by strong mortgage performance. During May, 131 mortgage transactions were registered with a combined value of QAR11.05 billion ($3.04 billion).
Doha accounted for the largest share of mortgage activity with 58 transactions, representing more than 44% of all mortgaged properties. Al Rayyan followed with 32 transactions, while Umm Salal recorded 19 mortgage transactions and Al Dhaayen registered 15.
The capital also led mortgage values, with financing activity totaling QAR5.88 billion ($1.62 billion), underscoring its continued importance as the country's primary real estate investment hub.
The residential unit segment remained active, generating 118 transactions worth a combined QAR200.9 million ($55.2 million).
The latest figures highlight the resilience of Qatar's property sector as government reforms, enhanced regulatory frameworks and measures supporting ownership, usufruct rights and real estate investment continue to attract both domestic and international capital.
The market's performance also reflects ongoing confidence in Qatar's long-term economic outlook, with real estate remaining one of the key pillars supporting diversification and private-sector investment growth.
