Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province Governor, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, has inaugurated a portfolio of municipal and development projects in Al-Ahsa with a combined value of USD 264.47 million (SAR 992 million), marking a significant step in advancing urban development and public services in the governorate.

The launches took place in the presence of Al-Ahsa Governor Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr and Majed Al-Hogail, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency.

Municipal innovation and urban improvement

As part of the programme, Prince Saud bin Naif officially inaugurated the Al-Ahsa Municipality Hackathon, an initiative aimed at generating innovative solutions to municipal and housing challenges. The hackathon is designed to encourage creative thinking and technological approaches that enhance service delivery and improve residents’ quality of life.

The governor also oversaw the launch of a joint urban improvement campaign, aligned with the Quality of Life Programme under Saudi Vision 2030. The campaign focuses on upgrading public spaces, improving urban aesthetics, and reinforcing community wellbeing across Al-Ahsa.

Investment agreements and community partnerships

On the investment side, Al-Ahsa Municipality signed a series of contracts projected to generate financial returns of approximately USD 13.3 million (SAR 50 million). These agreements reflect growing efforts to activate municipal assets and diversify revenue streams through structured investment partnerships.

In parallel, nine community partnerships were formalised to support the delivery of sustainable municipal and development services. The initiatives also include the creation of three new public parks, reinforcing the role of green spaces in enhancing liveability and promoting healthier urban environments.

Supporting long-term regional development

Collectively, the projects underscore a broader strategy to strengthen Al-Ahsa’s urban infrastructure, stimulate local investment, and deliver long-term socio-economic benefits for residents. By combining municipal innovation, private-sector participation, and community-focused development, the initiatives reflect a coordinated approach to sustainable growth in one of the Kingdom’s most historically and economically significant regions.
