MERED unveils its exclusive Bay Villas Collection at Riviera Residences on Al Reem Island. Image: SuppliedABU DHABI, UAE – MERED has unveiled the Bay Villas Collection, an exclusive portfolio of five waterfront residences at Riviera Residences on Al Reem Island, introducing a design-led residential offering inspired by some of the French Riviera's most celebrated coastal destinations.
Each villa is named after an iconic city along the French Riviera and reflects the distinctive character of its namesake through architecture and interior design. The residences have been designed by London-based interior studio Dseesion and form part of Riviera Residences, MERED's flagship waterfront development by Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron.
One of the defining architectural features of the collection is its private internal courtyards. Drawing on regional architectural traditions, these landscaped spaces create secluded outdoor environments that provide natural light, privacy and tranquillity while establishing a dialogue between Mediterranean and Emirati living. The courtyards reflect the broader design philosophy that defines Riviera Residences.
Commenting on the launch, Michael Belton, CEO of MERED, said:
“Luxury today is defined by individuality. Buyers are looking for homes that offer a genuine sense of identity and cannot be replicated elsewhere. With the Bay Villas, we wanted to create residences that are truly distinct in character. Each villa carries its own design inspiration and relationship with the waterfront, combining the timeless influence of the French Riviera with the cultural depth of Abu Dhabi.”
The launch comes as Abu Dhabi's premium residential market continues to evolve, with increasing demand for design-led homes offering privacy, architectural distinction and long-term investment value.

According to the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), the emirate recorded $18 billion (AED66 billion) in real estate transactions during the first quarter of 2026, marking its strongest quarterly performance to date. Al Reem Island remained one of Abu Dhabi's most active investment destinations, generating $2.5 billion (AED9 billion) in transactions.
Occupying a prime first-line waterfront location on Al Reem Island within Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Riviera Residences places the Bay Villas directly above the waterfront promenade, offering uninterrupted views of the sea and the Al Reem skyline.
Residents will also benefit from immediate access to the development's resort-style amenities, including a beach club within a three-minute walk, more than 15,000 integrated plants, four swimming pools, wellness facilities, residents' lounges, a Sky Garden on the 17th floor and five themed children's zones.

The landscape masterplan has been created by Michel Desvigne Paysagiste (Paris) in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron, with the landscape designed to shape the site's microclimate by enhancing shade, creating visual privacy and reinforcing the development's resort-inspired character.
MERED confirmed that enabling works have been completed, with construction progressing on schedule. Phase One is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2029.
