Dubai tenants can now register or update their Ejari rental contracts using WhatsApp, anytime and anywhere. This new initiative, introduced by the Dubai Land Department (DLD), simplifies one of the city’s most essential real estate processes and reflects Dubai’s ongoing mission to be a global smart city leader.
The service eliminates the need for in-person visits, queues, and paperwork. Tenants can now manage their contracts through a familiar and user-friendly platform.
Ejari, meaning “My Rent” in Arabic, is a mandatory system managed by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), a division of the DLD. It ensures that all rental agreements in Dubai are legally binding, regulated, and recorded in a centralized database. Tenants and landlords must register tenancy contracts through Ejari to activate utilities, resolve disputes, and ensure legal protection.
Until now, this process often required visits to typing centers, online portals, or service centers, which could be inconvenient for many residents.
The DLD’s WhatsApp-based solution is available 24/7 and designed for easy use. Here's how it works:
Whether you are registering a new contract or updating an existing one, the process is now easier than ever.
“Our goal is to make real estate services accessible, fast, and user-friendly,” said a DLD spokesperson. “By offering Ejari registration on WhatsApp, we’re meeting residents where they already are, on their phones, and removing unnecessary steps from the process.”
This service improves convenience, enhances efficiency, and promotes better record-keeping. It also reduces human error and speeds up processing.
The DLD confirms that the WhatsApp channel uses end-to-end encryption and secure backend processing. All communications and document submissions follow Dubai’s digital data protection regulations, ensuring privacy and safety for tenants.
This update supports Dubai’s Digital Government Strategy 2030, which aims to digitize 100 percent of city services. By integrating property management with platforms like WhatsApp, the city continues to lead in smart governance and citizen-focused innovation.
“A quick message is all it takes,” added the DLD spokesperson. “We’ve made sure tenants can stay updated and protected with minimal disruption to their daily lives.”
The service is especially helpful for:
WhatsApp-based Ejari services are part of a larger push toward a digital and efficient real estate sector. Dubai has also launched innovations like virtual property tours and blockchain-based ownership certificates.
With this new service, renting a home in Dubai becomes more efficient, secure, and accessible. It all starts with a simple conversation on your phone.
