Dubai Square Mall will open within three years, says Mohamed Alabbar, marking a USD 49bn next-generation retail landmark in Dubai Creek Harbour.
Dubai Square Mall Set to Open Within Three Years, Says Mohamed AlabbarDubai Square Mall is set to open within three years, marking one of Emaar’s most ambitious retail developments.

Dubai, UAE: Dubai Square Mall, one of Emaar Properties’ most ambitious retail and lifestyle developments to date, is expected to open within the next three years, according to Mohamed Alabbar, founder and managing director of the company.

In a social media announcement, Alabbar confirmed that the next-generation retail destination—part of the wider Dubai Creek Harbour master plan—continues to progress at pace. With a total investment of approximately USD 49 billion (AED 180 billion), Dubai Square is positioned as a transformative project that will redefine large-scale urban retail.

A Retail Landmark Three Times the Size of Downtown Dubai

Described by Alabbar as “three times the size of Downtown Dubai,” the new mall is designed as an indoor city covering 2.6 million square meters. When complete, it will be one of the region’s largest shopping and entertainment destinations.

In line with Dubai’s push for innovative mobility and sustainability, Dubai Square will feature internal routes allowing electric vehicles to move seamlessly within the complex—an unprecedented design choice merging retail, lifestyle, and smart mobility in one integrated destination.

A Vision for Next-Generation Shopping and Experiences

Emaar has characterized Dubai Square as a forward-looking development that brings advanced technologies into retail planning. Originally unveiled in 2018, the project underwent a major redesign in 2024 to elevate its scale, ambition, and integration with digital systems.

The mall will connect directly to the upcoming Dubai Creek Tower, forming part of a new commercial and tourism hub for the city. Emaar has confirmed that the development will incorporate AI-driven design tools, predictive systems for retailer needs, and digital platforms aimed at enhancing visitor experience.

“After 15 years of serving more than 100 million visitors annually and hosting over 1,500 retailers, Emaar has built deep expertise that we are now applying to this new project,” Alabbar noted. He added that while AI remains a “new science in design,” it will be central in shaping Dubai Square’s operational and experiential ecosystem.

Integral to the Dubai Creek Harbour Master Plan

Dubai Square is a cornerstone of Dubai Creek Harbour’s long-term development, a district encompassing 7.4 million square meters of residential space, extensive commercial zones, half a million square meters of green areas, and pedestrian-friendly streets along Dubai Creek.

The wider district is designed to balance urban living with natural assets, offering direct access to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Dubai’s most significant ecological reserves.

As construction moves forward, Dubai Square is set to play a defining role in the next chapter of Dubai’s retail evolution uniting scale, innovation, and sustainability in one of the emirate’s most anticipated mega-developments.
