Coral Beach Resort Sharjah joins Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action

Sharjah, UAE: Coral Beach Resort Sharjah has been officially recognised as a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, becoming the first hotel in the UAE to receive this distinction and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

The Glasgow Declaration is a global initiative aimed at uniting the tourism sector to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero as early as possible before 2050.

The initiative, launched during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021, brings together stakeholders across the tourism and hospitality sectors to align operations with science-based climate targets.

Coral Beach Resort Sharjah’s inclusion as a signatory reflects its ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations and contribute to global climate action goals.

This recognition also aligns with the hotel’s earlier achievement at the Sharjah International Travel & Tourism Forum Awards 2025, where it was honoured under the Sustain Sharjah category by the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority.

The award highlighted the resort’s commitment to the Six Pillars of sustainability, focusing on Climate, Waste, Culture, Water, Nature, and Education.

As part of the Glasgow Declaration, Coral Beach Resort Sharjah has committed to strengthening its climate ambitions in line with international sustainability frameworks.

The hotel will develop and implement a comprehensive climate action plan within 12 months, aligned with the Declaration’s five core pathways: Measure, Decarbonize, Regenerate, Collaborate, and Finance.

In addition, the resort will report progress annually, share best practices and collaborate with industry stakeholders to support broader adoption of sustainable solutions across the tourism sector.

The milestone positions Coral Beach Resort Sharjah as a leader in sustainable hospitality within the UAE, demonstrating how operational innovation and environmental responsibility can be integrated into modern tourism infrastructure.
